Biologist Gone Wild (for the Black Fly)!

Berkeley, CA - What are six attractive young fly biologists doing in a pottery workshop?

Are they're taking a break from the exausting effort of understanding epithelial architecture using drosophila as a model system (scientific jargon for: are they painting for fun on pottery)?

Maybe...but, are we sure such genial characters can take flies out of their minds?

Wait! What are these cute, smart, too-bad-some-of-them-are-married, hereos of scientific advancement drawing?

Boy, oh boy, look at that! I knew it, it's a fly! again...

Not only one fly, several of them, in all sorts of colors, painted not the way they really are, no. Painted pretty much the way they see them...

Mistery solved! No, it's not some kind of rehab for overexausted fly scientists. It's gift crafting for two friends (and colleagues) that are soon to be celebrated...and it's a lot of fun!
