Clearlake.

Abbiamo passato il weekend scorso con amici nella loro casa di Clearlake. Abbiamo camminato quanto basta e mangiato anche di piu'. colpa della griglia. BabyO si e' divetito molto soprattutto perche ora, magia delle magie, riesce a stare in piedi senza appoggio, delle volte anche per 3 secondi di fila. Abbiamo anche appurato che e' molto piu' bello fare il bagnetto con gli amichetti (cosa con cui il papa' concorda, ancora piu' se sono amichette).



We spent last weekend guest of friends in Clearlake. Walked enough, ate more than that. BBQ's fault. BabyO enjoyed, especially because, he now can stand unsupported, even for 3 consecutive seconds at times. We also established that it's fun to bathe with friends (something daddy agrees on, even more when they are of the opposite sex).

Neve - Snow!

Eccoci siori e siori al primo incontro di BabyO con la bianca morbida puffosa NEVE! Il lieto evento si e' tenuto al lago Tahoe dove abbiamo passato recentemente un weekend scioso. Ovviamente, per dare l'idea, il padre eterno, o chi per esso, ha deciso di fare le cose in grande e ci ha scaricato nella notte tra sabato e domenica una metrazzata e passa di neve (che culo)! Il primo giorno BabyO e' apparso perplesso e meditativo come sempre per le sue "prime" (vedi piscina). Aveva lo sguardo da "si' pero' sarebbe meglio se fosse calda sta roba bianca..". Il secondo gg ha gradito molto di piu' - o magari era un ghigno sadico di chi non ha dovuto spalare la macchina da sotto la neve...(mamma' nella fattispecie).



Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to BabyO's first rendevous with the white fluffy smurfy SNOW! The happy meeting took place in Tahoe where we spent a skiing weekend recently. Obviously, to give a proper sense to the experience, the god above, or one of his/her hi-ranking aides, decided to go big and shoveled some 40+ inches of snow on us during the night between Sat. and Sun (how cool)! Day 1 BabyO appeared perplexed and meditative, as he always does on his premieres (re:Swimming pool). He had the look of "this thing's cute but couldn't it be warm?...". Day 2 he seemed to enjoy more - might as well been the grin of one thinking that at least he's not the one shoveling the car out...(mammy to be precise).

BabyO is now totally mobile. He still cannot stand unsupported but of course behave as he could. He still has not a clear idea of where his fingers stand relative to a door but of course finds it the most irresistible toy. And he couldn't care less of the marvellous wonderful colorful mountain of baby toys that you contributed to stack in our house (no offence).....nooo.... he wants kitchenware! ziplocs, tupperwares, the food scale, goes nuts for cereals boxes, strainers, funnels come to that, then blender's accessories, cuttingboards, serving trays so on and so forth. don't believe it? watch these!



BabyO e' ora totalmente mobile. Ovviamente non sta in piedi da solo ma si comporta come se. Non ha molto chiaro dove stanno le sue dita in relazione a una porta in via di chiusura ma ovviamente trova il chiudere le porte la cosa piu' divertente. E non sembra fregargliene di meno della meravigliosa splendida coloratissima montagnola di giocattoli che con il vostro contributo ci riempie casa (senza offesa).....nooo....lui vuole la roda da cucina ecchediamine! sacchetti,tapper la bilancia da cucina, inpazzisce per la scatola dei cereali e poi colini, imbuti se e per quello, e poi pezzi del frullatore, taglieri, vassoi e chi piu' ne ha piu' ne metta. Non ci credete? guardate un po' qui!

Piccoli Gamberetti/Little Shrimps...

...e' appunto il nome del corso in cui il nostro si e' cimentato per la prima volta colla piscina. Bella esperienza tanti bambini intorno - lui era tra i piu' piccoli - e insegnante simpaticissimo che cantava canzoncine note a tutti tranne che a noi che non siamo indigeni....impareremo. Il nostro appariva perplesso sara' per l'ora presta (sabato mattina alle nove e mezza in vasca, no dico..), avra' pensato 'che strano sogno devo avere mangiato pesante...ma cosa mi ha dato quella la' ieri sera?' O magari era la presenza di papa' a fondo vasca che forse lo intimidiva: 'io qui immerso nella ?mia? piscia e tu li che mi fa anche le foto! ma che mi avra' dato da bere ieri sera quella la'?'.

Nice experience, lots of kids - he was among the youngest - and sweetest teacher singing songs known to everyone except us foreigners...sooner or later we'll learn. Our dear looked a bit skeptical to say the least, might be for the early hour (sat. 930am in the pool anyone?), he might have thought 'what a wild dream...the heck, must have not digested something...what did that woman give me last night for dinner? Or better might have been daddy's presence poolside that made him uncomfortable: 'me here dipping in a giant puddle of ?my? pee and you there dry even taking pictures! What in hell did that woman give me to drink last night?"

Giovedi..../Thursday....

....di solito uno lavora, ma quando si hanno nell'ordine sci da telemark E sci da discesa mai usati da 4 mesi nel garage si diventa un po' impazienti (e ci si trasforma nel pallino rosso qui sopra)!

....usually one is at work but, when both telemark AND alpine gear lays not yet tried-out in you storage room since 4 months, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do (and turns in the red 4pixel guy above)!

Caspita, quante gliene abbiamo fatte: siamo riusciti a fargli fare a il giro del mondo, invertirgli notte e giorno, passarcelo di braccio in braccio tipo piccolo buddha, farli fare gesu bambino, congelarlo al gelo di fuori, e scioglierlo al caldo di dentro e lui.....come al solito neanche un graffio! W BabyO

Men, how many we pulled on this guy: we managed to fly him across the globe, flip his day for his night and back, holding him from people to people like little buddha, make him play baby jesus, freeze him outdoor, melt him indoor, and the guy....not a scratch, as usual! Yay for BabyO!

Trick or Treat?

Siamo andati a comprare le zucche per Halloween e guardate che bella zucchettina abbiamo trovato! BabyO si e' molto divertito con tutti i bimbi che sono passati da casa a pescare dolcetti. Qui Halloween e' proprio una bella tradizione. Tutto il quartiere passa a trovarti ed e' sempre bello aprire la porta e trovarsi un pupetto 3enne ricoperto di sangue (finto) da capo a piedi. O vestito da occhio. O entrambi. Le altre foto sono qui. Happy Halloween!

BabyO had a lot of fun watching all the kids passing by trick or treating. This year way too many spiderman and little fairy. Best costume winner, definitely Mr. Eye - too bad the whole eyeball thingy got a bit in the way to pick sweets. Other pics are here. Happy Halloween!

Southwest Trip/ Viaggio a Sudovest

Siamo finalmente tornati dalla nostra supersettimana nei parchi nazionali del sudovest americano. Abbiamo toccato 3 stati (Nevada, Arizona, Utah), due fusi orari, siamo passati da 30 gradi nel deserto e a livello del mare a 0 gradi e 2700 mt di altitudine e abbiamo guidato per 1134 miglia (1839 km) in 7 giorni. BabyO si ampiamente guadagnato i galloni di GT (grandturismo). Eccovi una selezione di foto, e, udite, udite questa e' nuova!, il link per andarvele a vedere e scaricare tutte!

We are finally back from our hyperweek to the national parks of the american southwest. We touched 3 states (Nevada, Arizona, Utah), 2 time zones, we went from scorching 100F sea level in the desert to freezy 30F and 9000ft at the mountains and drove for 1134 miles in 7 days. BabyO is now offically GT certified (GrandTourist). Here is a selection of pics and, marvel of marvels, the link to see and download them all.

Ecco babyO che aiuta papa' in lab. In primo piano con le mosche moscano nelle loro "bottiglie" appoggiate sul passeggino. Sullo sfondo, un microscopio da dissezione nella camera della mosche del nostro lab.

Movie with Baby/Cinema col Pupo

Yesterday, we managed to go watch "Hairspray", a funny musical with Travolta playing an uberfat drag mom. And, surprise we brought BabyO along!!! So much for those people with kids that say:" I haven't been to the theater in years!"

The catch is that the theater in question, called "el cerrito speakeasy", on Tueasdays has what they call the "baby brigade"night. It means that they allow new babies in. Since everyone is there with his/her bundle-o-noise, none complains about occasional screams and cries. More; it's ceap (6$), has couches (!!!) and serves good food (!!!!!) and beers (!!!!!!!!!!!). I feel we'll soon become regulars. Needless to say, babyO sleep tru most of the movie, which was noisier than a action flick. Yay for intelligent theaters!

Ieri siamo riusciti ad andare a vedere Hairspray, un simpatico musical con Travolta che fa la parte della drag mamma superobesa. E, udite udite ci siamo portati babyO con noi!!! Alla facciazza delle coppie con bambini che dicono: "e' anni che non vado al cinema".

Il trucco e' che il cinema in questione, che si chiama "el cerrito speakeasy" al Martedi fa la serata bambini. Cioe' fanno entrare bimbi sotto l'anno. Siccome tutti si portano il loro disperatello, ovviamente nessuno si lamenta per l'occasionale piagnutina o gridolino. In piu' e' economico (6$), ha i divani (!!!), serve buon cibo (!!!!!) e birra (!!!!!!!!). Mi sa che a breve saremo li di casa. Inutile a dirsi babyO se l'e' dormita per quasi tutto il film, che era piu' rumoroso di un film d'azione. Evviva i cinema intelligenti!

Muir woods

Altra gita con gli zii a Muir Woods, un bosco di sequoie a nord di San Francisco. BabyO si e' divertito un mondo a fare il folletto del bosco!

Mare, mare, mare...../Sea, sea, sea...

...Lago! Sembra Sardegna ma non lo e'! E' sempre lake Tahoe (a 1800 mt.), ma grazie al fatto che el granit l'e' semper granit assomiglia alla costa smeralda. Acqua un po' piu' fredda e decisamente meno salata...Beccatevi una rassegna di foto della nostra 96 ore di vacanza insieme alla famiglia in visita per l'estate.

...Lake! Looks like tropics but it's not! It's Tahoe as usual, but thanks to the fact that granite rocks are the same everywhere this looks like a tropical shore. Colder water and way less salty...Here is a phototour of of our 96-hour vacation with family visiting for the summer.
